I see the same mistakes over and over again in blogging communities when people talk about AI. After 18 months of daily use here's what's actually holding bloggers back:
MISTAKE 1: Publishing AI content without editing
This is the biggest one. AI-generated content is a STARTING POINT not a finished product. I always rewrite at least 40% of what AI gives me before publishing. Your readers can tell the difference — and so can Google.
MISTAKE 2: Using vague prompts
"Write a blog post about fitness" is a terrible prompt. The more specific you are the better the output. Include your
target audience, tone, length, keywords and purpose in every prompt.
MISTAKE 3: Not giving AI context
ChatGPT doesn't know your blog, your audience or your writing style. Start every session by telling it: "You are a content writer for my blog [NAME] which targets [AUDIENCE] with a [TONE] writing style."
MISTAKE 4: Relying on AI for facts
AI hallucinates. Always verify statistics, quotes and specific claims before publishing. I've caught Claude and ChatGPT making up statistics that sounded completely real.
MISTAKE 5: Using the same AI for everything
Different AI tools have different strengths. I use Perplexity for research, Claude for writing, ChatGPT for brainstorming and Canva AI for images. Mix and match!
Fix these 5 mistakes and your AI-assisted content will improve dramatically.
