Can AI Agents Manage an Entire Content Calendar Without Human Help?

Been thinking about this a lot lately and wanted to hear what you all think. AI agents have come a long way in just the past year or so. We went from basic chatbots that just answer questions to actual "agents" that can plan, research, write, and even take actions on their own like scheduling posts or updating docs. So naturally I started wondering... could an AI agent literally run my entire content calendar without me touching it?
Like imagine this. You give an agent your niche, your target audience, and your posting frequency. It researches trending topics, writes the drafts, picks the right keywords, schedules everything across your blog, LinkedIn, and Twitter, and even tweaks headlines based on what's performing well. Sounds like a dream right? A lot of tools are already moving in this direction. Some AI writing platforms now have "agent mode" where they don't just generate content, they also plan a whole month of posts based on your goals.
But here's where I have doubts. Content isn't just about publishing on schedule, it needs a human touch, personality, timing based on real world events, and sometimes just gut feeling on what your audience wants that week. Can an agent really judge that on its own? Also what happens when it makes a mistake, like publishing something factually wrong or tone-deaf during a sensitive time? Who's watching it in real time?
I feel like the future is more "AI agent + human checkpoint" rather than fully hands-off. Agents handle the boring repetitive stuff like research, drafting, scheduling, and basic optimization, while humans step in for final review, brand voice, and judgment calls. That combo already saves a ton of time honestly.
But growth-wise, these agents are getting scary good, scary fast. A few years from now this whole conversation might look outdated lol.
What's your take? Has anyone here actually tried running their calendar fully on an AI agent, even for a week? Did it work or did it flop? Would love to hear real experiences, not just theories.
